NorthEast Chapter Picnic

Who: EVERYONE! All of CFC/KFC/YFC!
What: A PICNIC!
When: Sunday, August 26, 2007
Where: Thomson Memorial Park

Our chapter (Northeast) is inviting everyone (CFC's/YFC's/KFC's) for a picnic this coming Sunday, August 26th from 10:00 p.m. - 8:00 am at Thompson Park . This will be our summer fun activity for the whole chapter.

Since we just finished Conference, let's "loosen up" a bit and enjoy the rest of the summer with fun games!

Directions:
By Car
- The park is located at the northeast corner of Brimley and Lawrence.
- The car entrance is located south of the traffic light at Brimley and Dorcot.
- There is parking located inside.

By Bus:
From Scarborough Town Centre:
Take the 21 Brimley towards Kennedy and get off at Lawrence. You will see the grass and the power lines.

From Kennedy Station:
Take the 21 Brimley towards Scarborough Town Centre/Steeles and get off at Lawrence. You will see the grass and the power lines.

CLUSTER 3 FELLOWSHIP!!

Cluster 3 Fellowship - All Chapters

Who: ALL OF CLUSTER 3 (Member and Leaders)
When: Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 (10:00am - 4:00pm)
Where: The Beaches (Woodbine)

Meeting Place for SNE and Markham peeps can be at Town Station or Kennedy Station @ 10:00 - 10:30AM. Departure time together @ 10:30AM.


Things to Bring / you can Bring:
- Summer Clothes (dress appropriately / modestly)
- Sun Glasses, Hat, Towel, Sandals, Sun Block
- Volleball, Badminton Gear, Water Guns, Water Balloons?
- Bring Extra clothes (don't leave w/o extra underwear!)
- IPod with Speakers?
- Food: Snacks, drinks…or bring money for food (There's a Pizza Pizza, etc…)

Directions to Woodbine Beach, by Bus / Subway:
- Take the RT from Scarborough Town Centre to Kennedy Station
- Take the Bloor Subway Line all the way to Woodbine Station. (Kennedy, Warden, Victoria Park, Main Street, Woodbine)
- Go on the main level and take the 92 Woodbine South bus all the way to the beaches.
- You will know when to stop…you might see water. LOL

Directions to Woodbine Beach by Car on the Highway:
- Go on Highway 401 West
- While on Hwy 401, exit onto the DVP going downtown (Make sure you don't head towards New Market)
- Exit on 375 Don Mills Rd SOUTH (Merge onto Don Mills Rd.)
- Left / East on Oconnor Dr.
- Right / South on Woodbine Ave.
- Woodbine Ave. will turn into Lakeshore Blvd. From here you will see the beaches.
- Find parking. LOL

Directions to Woodbine Beach by Car by taking Side Roads:
- Keep driving south until you reach Kingston Rd. on Markham Rd./Brimley Rd./Warden Ave. (You have to be on these three streets to meet Kingston Rd. or else go on any other street and you will meet Danforth Rd. and turn left/south when you see one of these three streets until you meet Kingston Rd.)
- Go west on Kingston Rd. until you reach Woodbine Ave.
- Go South on Woodbine Ave. and it will turn into Lakeshore Blvd. From here you will see the Beaches.
- Find parking. LOL

Household Assembly

Hope you're all having a fun summer. This Sunday, July 22nd, there will be a Household Assembly for everyone.

What?: Household Assembly
Where?: CFC Office (156 Shorting Rd.)
When?: Sunday July 22, 2007 @ 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Why?: To remember our spiritual side, even though its summer

Directions:
From the 401 by car
- Exit McCowan North
- Make a RIGHT on Sheppard (going east)
- Make a LEFT on Shorting Rd. (you'll see the plaza with the Tim Horton's)
- Turn into the SECOND driveway on your LEFT

From STC Station by bus
- Take 129 McCowan NORTH
- Get off at Sheppard
- Take 85 Sheppard EAST
- Get off at Shorting Rd. or at the plaza with the Tim Horton's

We will be taking t-shirt orders for CONFERENCE. So bring $10 to get yourself a CONFERENCE 2007 t-shirt!

CONFERENCE UPDATE!

Hey Everyone,

We hope all of you are enjoying your summer so far. Praise God for a great start to our summer vacations!

In the month of July, YFC will be filled with fun events and bonding experiences with the chapters and cluster. Stay tuned for any events that is to come. We look forward to seeing all your faces throughout the summer.

It's almost time for....

CONFERENCE! CONFERENCE!! CONFERENCE!!!

Who: OPEN TO ALL YFC MEMBERS!
What: One big gathering of youths from all over east Canada, a three day experience of a lifetime!
When: August 17th-19th, 2007
Where: Seneca College (Newnham Campus), Scarborough ON

Cost before July 9th, 2007 - $180.00
Cost after July 9th, 2007 - $195.00

**This means, get your forms and money in to your chapter heads ASAP so that you can save money. Please note that if you only give a deposit before July 9th, you will still have to pay the remainder of the new price when you pay the rest....

There has been 40 spots reserved for Scarborough NorthEast. They have all been claimed. Don't be discouraged about that. There are still going to be spots available for you. After July 9th, the reserved spots for every delegation will not be reserved anymore and any chapter who doesn't meet their quota can give their spots away to other chapters. For now, reserve your spot with your chapter heads and they will handle your reservation for you.

UNOFFICIAL YFC EVENT: Chilling at the Beach

Who: ALL OF CLUSTER 3
What: A day where we can all gather as one cluster, relax, have fun, and bond before the exams. A preview before summer…
When: Saturday, June 9th, 2007 (11:00am - 4:00pm)
Where: The Beaches (Woodbine)

Meeting Place for SNE and Markham peeps:
Meet at Scarborough Town Centre Station on the platform in between the bus level and the subway level @ 10:00AM. We will wait for everyone until 10:30AM. After that, you will have to find your own way there. If Durham people can meet up here as well, then that would be great.

Things to Bring / you can Bring:

UPDATE: Upcoming Events

What up yo!



Let us praise and thank God for a very fun-filled General Assembly this past weekend! Although it was more like fun in partly cloudy skies with a tad of sun and a drizzle of rain, we still managed to chow down, play some games, and raise an exact $100 for GK ANCOP! Good job SNE!

Now that's not it! I know a lot of you, especially us high school kids, are mad busy with school. Since this upcoming month of June will be super busy with homework, ISUs, and prep for exams, we have tried our very best to fit our events so that they won't get in the way of school! SO PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT SCHOOL FIRST, AND LET'S TRY NOT TO NEGLECT OUR STUDIES!

THIS WEEKEND: Will be a FREE WEEKEND for all of SNE. That includes both leaders and members! So use this time to study hard for these last weeks of school!

June 9: Fellowship @ THE BEACH!

June 17: Cluster Leaders Assembly @ St. Thomas (For leaders only!)

June (22-24): Fellowship (TBA)

June 30: Household Assembly @ CFC East Office

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

What up SNE!

We will be having our General Assembly this coming weekend at the park! Yep, that's right! It will most definitely be a fun-filled event, so come out and have some fun in the sun!



Who: Scarborough North East
What: "Fun in the Sun" General Assembly
When: Saturday, May 26, 2007 (10:00AM - 4:00PM)
Where: Milliken Park (McCowan and Steeles)
Why: Fundraise for GK ANCOP (at least $2 each)

What's going down?
- Fun activities like Capture the Flag and a Scavenger Hunt
- If the weather is nice, A WATER FIGHT!
- Straight chillin', yo!
- and FOOD!
- So come prepared and bring extra clothes! Don't forget your sun block too!

IMPORTANT:
Food, cutlery, drinks and snacks will be assigned by unit and household. So members if you are unsure of what to bring, find out from your household or unit head!



Directions:
By Car (From HWY 401)
- Exit McCowan Road North
- Turn Right/East on Steeles (you will be going down McCowan for a while)
- You will see the entrance of the parking lot of the park, shortly after on your right.

By Bus (From STC Station)
- Take the 129/129A McCowan North all the way down to Steeles.
- Walk away from the gasoline stations. Make sure you're on the side where Tim Hortons is. Keep walking away from Tim Hortons until you see the entrance of the Park.

WE WILL BE MEETING FIRST IN THE BIG PLAYGROUND RIGHT INFRONT OF THE PARKING LOT, SO PLEASE BE ON TIME! IF YOU COME LATE, JUST LOOK FOR SIGNS TO WHERE WE ARE!

UPDATE !

What up Scarborough North East!

I would like to thank all of you who showed up and participated in a very successful Pre-Conference last weekend. There was a great turn out and our chapter certainly represented well! I hope that all of you had fun with the rest of Metro East but most of all let us praise God for allowing us to have such a fun, spirit-filled, and successful event! S-N-E for G-O-D!

Now time for an update..

This weekend, we will be having events for BOTH leaders and members.

Firstly is our cluster's very first Leaders Training. This upcoming event is absolutely MANDATORY for all leaders in cluster three.

Who: Durham, Scarborough North East, Markham York Region LEADERS (Community Program Only - Other program leaders will be invited by program heads if needed)
What: Leaders Training
When: Saturday, April 28th, 2007 (1:00 - 7:30PM)
Where: St. Bernadette Catholic Church (Durham - Ajax)

Directions:
- Get on the Highway 401, going east.
- Exit Westney Road, South
- Turn left (east) on Bayly
- You will see the church on your right side, after Harwood

Transportation:
If you need a ride to this meeting please tell your chapter heads, Josh and Steph, know as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: Every leader is obliged to go to this meeting. There should not be any reason for anyone to skip this training. If you are committed to serve, please make the effort to show up for the entire training.

Now don't think we forgot about our members!

KFC Envirokids Field Trip
When: Saturday, April 28th, 2007 (9:00AM - 12:30PM)
Where: McCowan Park
Why: We're going to be planting trees to do our part as a KFC Community in being good stewards of the Earth!

Directions:
- Take Highway 401
- Exit McCowan South
- Keep going South (past Lawrence Ave.)
- McCowan Rd. becomes Danforth Rd, so before that road, there is an intersection called Furlong Ct. & McCowan, turn East (on McCowan) and keep heading straight.
- The road ends at the actual park.

What: Covenant Orientation (The Continuation of the Camp)
When: Saturday, April 14th, 2007
Time: 10:00 - 5:00PM
Where: 160 Alton Towers Circle (Party Room)

Directions:
From the 401

  • Exit Mccowan Rd, North
  • You will be passing, Sheppard, Finch, McNicoll, and the 1st Alton Towers
  • Turn right on the second Alton Towers Circle (across from Dick and Janes)
  • Turn right on the two grey building entrance (has blue sign that says "Optima on the Park"
  • Go inbetween the two grey buildings and enter the lobby
  • Ask the security guard to assist you to the party room

    From Scarborough Town Centre (By Bus)
  • Take the 129 or 129A
  • You will pass Sheppard, Finch, McNicoll
  • When you get to the 1st Alton Towers, you know that you will need to get off after the next stop.
  • Get off on the 2nd Alton Towers (across from Dick and Janes) and walk towards the grey buildings in front of you.
  • Go inbetween the two grey buildings and enter the lobby
  • Ask the security guard to assist you to the party room
